hey guys! welcome back to maggie’s doodles, and to a new series! 😍💕
i am so excited to present to you: goal-crushing with maggie! it’s a motivational series where i revamp, organize, and accomplish various things in my life! i get to inspire myself and you guys at the same time! it’s gonna be super epic 🤩 i’m gonna add to this series whenever i can!
i thought it would be super fitting to launch this series by sharing the progress i’ve made in my closet! i’ve dreamed of organizing my closet like this for *quite* a while. so i’m glad i’ve done a lot in the ways of organizing it now! ✨
in these posts, i’m gonna share pictures (where applicable) of the goals i’m crushing (haha 😂) along with some of my best tips! i hope you enjoy!
let’s go! 💕
awesomely organizing my closet
ft. organization tips!
— find organization in your favorite colors! i love making organization a mix of creativity and functionality. i got this pop-up hamper aboe recently! (guys it’s the PERFECT SHADE OF PINK) i’ve sorted most of my stuffies into it 😍 i found the hamper at walmart!
— buy organizers that give extra space! i used to sort my things into containers that they fit into perfectly. what made this actually imperfect (haha) is that when i wanted to add to my collection or i decided to get rid of something, the container wouldn’t allow for that! so by organizing your things in baskets that are a bit too big, it’ll help your organization a lot.
above you’ll see my holiday container! it currently goes under the stuffie hamper to the right.
— make your layout visually-pleasing! 😍 when i first organized the bins on the top shelf, i had them turned, which left room for one more bin. i didn’t buy two of the pink bins, so the hole on the top shelf made me want to buy more, haha. by turning the bins longways, i was happy with the layout! so i didn’t want to spend an extra $10 anymore 🤣
— have a place for backup clothes! i don’t specifically want to donate or throw these away, but they also don’t need to go with my clothes i wear all the time. this is a great solution!
— have (at least one!) place for fun organization! after sorting a lot of less exciting items, this bin was a lot of fun to organize! it’s epic having many notebooks to choose from when i want to work on a new creative project 💕
— create an area for extra decor/organization! if there’s a chance you’ll use them again someday, it’s great for those items to have a permanent location in storage 😊
— have (at least one) area for temporary organization. for example, i have my donation bag (which has since been donated), and some papers i’ll be tending to soon! i specifically created these to come back to in the near future. if i’d sorted them into permanent locations, i’d either forget about them or put off doing them. since they’re all right here, i’ll definitely get around to them!
— sort shirts by color, type, or a mix of both! i like organizing my shirts every time clean ones are brought back to the closet. in the pic above, i have my work clothes on the left and t-shirts on the right.
— check in with clothes and evaluate if they should still be in your closet! a lot of times, a clothing item will pass the point of ‘i’ll wear that eventually’ and transition to ‘i’m never gonna wear that again’ 😂👍
keeping your closet primarily full of things you use and like makes organization much more fun!
so most of what you see in my closet above are items i’ve worn very recently!
— make a place for things you access regularly! most of my closet is storage, but some of it has items i need every day or multiple times a week! one example of this are my chick-fil-a accessories (name tag, mask, and belt). i put my other cfa stuff with those things and made a basket for them!
— sort stuff by category! this has been a recurring theme with all of my organization! i’m much happier with my closet when everything is grouped by category. in the pic above, i have my dvds container 😄
this little area combines two of my previous points, lol: buy pretty organization and have extra organizers! since taking this pic, i sorted my markers (see: future post coming soon 🌝 hehe) and that pink box is actually empty. so i’ll use those eventually for some type of organization!
— make your organization a combination of things you use and things you’ll access eventually! within reason, if there’s a chance you’ll use something again, it’s worth sorting! i have various types of bags in this container, and most of them are ones i believe i’ll use again. when it gets to the point that i haven’t used one in months, i’ll evaluate if i need to donate it to keep my organization current 👍
— have container/s for keepsakes! idk about you, but i think its fun to have stuff to look back on from when you were a kid. i currently have two containers full, which i’d like to look through again soon!
— have a need-to-organize organizer! haha this one feels the most scattered. but it’s still a form of organization! when something’s in a category all its own, or i’m not sure about what to do with an item yet, i’m currently putting those things in my craft cart.
thank you sooo much for reading! 😍 i LOVE this series and i hope you do too!
