hello!! welcome back to my blog 💜 i’m gonna chat about my phone’s camera today! 😍

i got my XR last september and BOI do i love it 👏👏

my story behind buying it goes back to when i tried out my brother joshua’s XR camera (maybe the spring before i bought mine?), and i could not *believe* the quality of it!

since one of the only reasons i even buy iphones at this point is for their pretty awesome cameras, the XR quickly found a place at the top of my wishlist!

it’s the most i’ve ever spent on a phone, at around $350, but can i tell you- worth it!!

so i’m gonna go over what i love about it, with pictures i’ve taken to illustrate my points! let’s go 😊

about my iphone XR camera

Its ability to focus on the subject //

iphones i’ve had before the XR (4, 5s, SE [old one]) could not do what this one can! so much of the background was still in focus, which takes the emphasis off the subject.

How it captures sunlight //

you know i love me some sunlight 😍🧡 haha i live for it! iphones always perform the best in natural lighting, but XR takes it to anOTHER LEVEL 🙌 with most of these pics, you cannot tell i took them with an iphone! that’s insane!

Textures!!! //

this is one of the elements that stood out most to me when i tried joshua’s XR! the ability to focus on textures (such as the cobblestone above) makes me so so happy. it brings a new level of visual appeal to my pictures!

Its ability to focus on minute details //

the flower above is about the size of my fingernail!! the XR has some macro photography capabilities i’ve never seen before 😍 they’re not as clear as i’d like for them to be, but the fact that i can manage to take some macro shots is incredible!

the interesting thing is, for my camera to focus on the flower above, i had to zoom in and back up some for it to focus. so if you’re trying some macro shots with your XR, that’s a tip for you!

The clarity of filters from RookieCam //

i’ve loved rookiecam since 2014, but whoa- the XR’s camera quality makes them even MORE epic!! 🤩 one of my favorite filters now is ‘tan,’ which i think is part of the premium filters. (i ued it on the pic above) it emphasizes orange hues and made it where i could take more ‘fall pics’ last fall even though most leaves were still brown at that point, haha!

Too many perfect pictures 😢😂 //

i’ve “had” to make collages on more than one occasion because i had super similar pictures, but i loved all of them haha! i’m used to taking a bunch of extra pics because with my other iphones, only out out of 5 pics would turn out right. well now with my XR i take 5 pics and they’re all incredible 😂 which is not actually a con, but it does make it where i have more pics i want to save!

  2. I don’t own an XR but I’ve taken many pictures with one and I have to agree. I personally like the Samsung Galaxy S 21 (i haven’t used the S 22 yet) better but it is way harder to use although the pictures are better.

  7. These pictures are so good! My amateur non-existent photographer self could neverrr 😂 also, I don’t have an iphone, but my camera quality is actually really good! The only thing is, I have shaky hands 🙄😂 I tend to blame my camera tho lol

  8. Love your pictures! I have a OnePlus and it does pretty much what your phone does, but I gotta admit, your camera captures the textures like so well and I LOVE THE DEPTH in your pictures, especially the tree bark one!
