Hello! It is *checks calendar lol…* Wednesday evening at the time I’m writing this.
I’m currently working on getting back into a blogging routine! 😍💕 However, as you can see, this post is rather last minute. It’s 9:08 PM at the moment, and I would love to have this finished and scheduled by… *calculates a reasonable projected time* 9:45! We’ll see how this goes 😂
Today I’m writing about what the title suggests (aka totally gives away): what I do when I’m in a blogging slump! I got this post idea from Evin @ Living the Blogging Life. Click here to read where she shared 99 awesome post ideas!
So, you wanna guess how often I get in a blogging slump? It will probably surprise you!
I would say a couple to several times each month.
For me personally, I consider a blogging slump to be those times when I’m questioning my content, the empty draft is daunting, I’m not sure which direction I want to take my posts, and I can feel my creative energy running low. It’s the opposite of feeling energized to blog, and these times usually precede a break, or a definite drop in the amount of content I put out.
Even when I’m posting stuff, I could still
totally be in a slump.
It’s a mental battle, even if my blog
looks totally fine!
I do my best to keep my blog aligned with my life, but when stuff gets weird, my blog awkwardly follows along and nothing ends up feeling right. 😂 ah, well.
I’m quite used to enjoying blogging, then being in a slump, then loving blogging again, and on and on it goes. I have been blogging for eleven years, you know 😉 which has resulted in me learning a lot!
I don’t usually write about blogging slumps… usually because I view them as a negative thing, lol. But hey, if I can share some tips with you today, that would be awesome! I’d love to help out 💕
So allow me to share the genius behind my creative process! (ok not really 😂)

🌟 Try something again that’s worked before // doing this – whether that’s bringing back a post series I used to love, or sharing a type of post on a certain day of the week, etc – helps me to get back in the groove! Building habits is a huge part of change. When I’m able to incorporate something that’s worked in the past, it helps my brain to get back in the blogging zone I love, which then fuels more creativity.
🌟 Seek inspiration around the blogging world // I did this today by reading Evin’s post! Seeing what others are posting, what tips and post ideas they have, and just overall getting inspired by others’ blogging inspiration is something I find motivating. One of my favorite things to do when I need inspiration is to watch content creators on YouTube I like and admire, because watching the videos they spent time filming and editing motivates me to get working on blog posts!
🌟 Evaluate my content // I’ve had drops in inspiration so many times because I was no longer passionate about the posts I was writing. When I can acknowledge this is happening, I’m able to feel better more quickly! A post series could no longer be interesting me, or I might realize I committed to something long-term that I actually only liked short-term. When other bloggers are involved, I’ll be honest and let them know if I need to put a guest post/collab on hold while I make blogging decisions. I think this is something that’s really important to do.
🌟 Re-work my blog routine & change things up! // I love listening to music while I write posts, and sometimes I need a new playlist! (revisiting an old one can be awesome, too) I also might need to write posts at a different time of day, or on my phone instead of my laptop, etc – finding little ways to bring variety to my blog routine really helps. Right now I’m writing this post in the evening, but for months I’d only write in the morning. It’s been interesting and has helped me to get back to blogging!
🌟 Make things easier for myself // Burnout usually occurs because we’ve done too much. I can experience this with blogging if I do a post series for too long, too many posts in one week, work on too many collabs at once – *deep breath* lol there really is too much of a good thing! So I may cut back and share less posts each week and slowly empty my calendar while I figure out what I’d like to do next.
