Hello! In today’s post, I thought I’d talk about goals. I’m on a roll with writing about inspirational tips I’d like to share with you, so I’m continuing the trend today! 😂💕

I realized recently how important it is to identify my goals and separate them from all the possible goals one can reach for! Because if I’m not careful, I’ll be running around feeling super dissatisfied with my life since I’m not meeting every goal, every day.

In this post, I’d love to help you along in identifying your true goals. I’m working on doing the same with mine and it’s been incredible!

So, how do you know if a goal is the right one to have?

I think goals should always be this awesome, motivating force that inspires you to create a beautiful future and productive today! When goals aren’t having that effect, you’ll be very distracted from the progress you want to be making.

There have been so many goals that I’ve carried around with me over time, then eventually gotten rid of. It felt so great to figure out if I really wanted to reach those milestones, or if I’d changed my mind!

Here are some questions you can ask yourself that have personally helped me to discover my true goals!:

  • Is this goal something I used to want, but don’t anymore/right now?
  • Is it something another person influenced me to pursue, but it’s not what I want for my life?
  • Is this goal motivating me or burdening me?

By answering those questions, they’ll help you along in figuring out which ones you want to focus on!

Why did I think of the candy

There are goals I reach every day and every week that make me really excited! Then there are goals I haven’t reached yet, which makes me sad, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to pursue them. They just haven’t happened yet!

So figure out which goals you’re tackling right now, then sort out the ones that you’ll pursue when you can. Free yourself of the guilt of feeling like you should have done something when you either literally couldn’t, or you’re just not interested at this time. Allow yourself to enjoy what you are doing today! 💕

Did you know there are two types of goals in the world? 🌎

Okay, I’m kidding. 😂 … kind of.

Hear me out: there are required goals and optional goals!

Prioritize the things you have to do, then have fun orchestrating the optional stuff.

Here are various types of goals! This can help you sort all your ideas:

  • health/fitness goals
  • academic goals
  • career goals
  • creative goals
  • relationship goals
  • mental health goals
  • self-improvement goals
  • blogging goals (yup you knew I was gonna include that)
  • writing goals
  • life goals

Of course goal lists can be as general or specific as you want – it’s totally your call!

Your goals should excite you and motivate you. If they’re weighing you down and making you loathe how you spend your time, ask yourself if they’re really goals you want to have.

And no, I’m not talking about goals going golfing

Have you ever set a big goal for yourself that you pursue for a while, then realize it’s not your thing anymore? That’s okay. You can change your mind! As long as you haven’t made financial commitments or have obligations, adjust your priorities so you can pursue what you love today.

I’ve set goals that sounded like great long-term goals. But then as I chased after them, I lost interest. Turns out, they were awesome short-term goals that didn’t excite me for as long as I thought they would.

Once I let go of how I’d pictured things turning out and accepted reality, I freed myself to be able to enjoy what I was interested in doing at that point!

Here are more questions you can answer as you sort through your goals!

  • Which goal/s of mine are required?
  • Which one/s are so important that I’m making them a requirement?
  • Which goals am I the most excited about?
  • Which goals make me feel guilty?
  • Which goals would I pursue today, but I need to figure out where to start?
  • Which ones do I want to pursue eventually?

  1. Woah! I loved this post, it was so motivating. So, since few months, I have this goal of mine, that I want to reach 100 followers on my blog! I’m 60 followers rn. But if I reach 100 followers, I’d improve more and more and make goals further! I’m planning a lot of things for the blog rn! I hope they turn into something good!😉

  3. Huh, that’s actually really interesting to thing about 🤔
    I can never think of goals I actually want to set for myself, but I really want to be able to figure something out. I feel like that sentence was really confusing. Was it confusing?

    1. Yeeees
      Yeah same. Sometimes I’ll set a goal to reach for but I don’t know how it will work out, then depending on if I have fun working toward that goal or not, I’ll find out if it’s worth it! 😂 if not I’ll set another goal and try going after it. Lots of trial and error.

  5. this is an awesome post!! For me as an ENFP, my goals are ever-changing but help me become a better person nontheless!! I love how you mentioned to listen to your own self and not let anyone else influence you on your goals *applause*. I definitely get inspired by people and they are great to look up to when working toward a goal but that’s a big thing for me is that sometimes I do things just because I admire someone else for doing them lol.     1. Aw thanks Darby! Yes same! Mine move around all the time but I’m really happy with the goals I reach on a daily and weekly basis 😄 yes! I’ll think “if this goal/lifestyle is awesome for this person, then it’s right for me too!” but that’s not always the case.   6. This was an important post for me. I made a paper copy and then made worksheets for me to set goals according to your list of kinds of goals, then copied the questions near the end to evaluate the goals. I am putting this in my notebook to refer back to frequently. Thanks a kazillion for helping me organize my thoughts and set goals for once.
