what’s in my purse! | before & after

Hello! How cute is that comic intro? 😀 ❤ hehe and it sums up what this post is all about! Last week, I bought a new purse to replace my old one. It gave me the idea to share pictures on my blog of how I’ve organized my new purse! Then I realized I could do a double tour showcasing before and after the organizational transformation! hehe

I buy all of my purses from thrift shops. The ones I get are either in like new or gently used condition, and I love how affordable it is! With most things I buy, I like to give everything a test run – clothes, purses, shoes, wall decor, etc. By spending less on my purchases, I’m able to see if the item will work out for me, because whether I love the purchase and use it for a long time, or I change my mind and re-donate it, I’m saving money and really enjoying every shopping experience!

I can’t even remember when I bought my old purse… maybe early this year? I liked it okay, but I fell out of love with it quickly. Despite this, I kept it throughout the full swing of the pandemic because I was hardly going anywhere anyway. It was functional and everything I bring with me fit inside, but it’s not that pretty. haha

Here’s a pic of the outside. One of my favorite things about it is the helpful front pocket where I could quickly put/retrieve my phone!

Oof – this is the view inside! It’s a single compartment purse with a little inside pocket. It’s pretty deep, so I lined up everything inside and put smaller items off to each side.

Another view, without the mask.

I love taking pictures like this! haha here’s everything lined up all nicely and neatly. Unlike how they were in my purse. xD We have some candy, a notepad for me to write a quick grocery list/phone numbers/etc. in, a cool bag where I stored hair ties, my sunglasses pouch, my keys, a first aid kit with bandages, hand sanitizer spray, wipes, my mask, some writing utensils, and my wallet.

I wanted to update my purse this month because 1) I’d like to have a pretty purse again (lol), 2) I wanted better organization so I automatically know where everything is, and 3) I like to change things up from time to time!

Here’s the purse I bought along with three organizational bags to go inside! The biggest gold one didn’t end up fitting in the finished purse, but I’m including its picture anyway.

Ta-da!!! I love the color 😀 ❤ and I love all the compartments and pockets!

My updated keychain! I’m going to make a lanyard soon, but I didn’t get around to it before taking the pictures for this post, so this is how they look right now. I’m currently using the front pouch for my keys and phone.

In the first zippered compartment, I’m keeping a tan bag (for hair ties, my sunglasses, and portable phone charger) and my wallet!

Well I took this picture before adding the portable charger. oh well haha

The seconded zippered compartment contains my first aid kit (complete with bandaids and ointment now!), hand sanitizer spray, my mask, and a little drawing kit!

I got those little notebooks from Walmart recently. The cover colors are so pretty! I would have liked to have found little notebooks with blank paper instead of ruled, but that didn’t happen haha

Thanks for reading! I loved updating my purse and making it more functional and organizational.

Quick blogging update! I just changed my blog button to match maggie’s doodles ❤ If you’d like to swap with me (or if we have but you have my old button), go to my friends page so we can swap!

What does your purse look like? What do you make sure to always have with you when you leave the house? Let’s chat in the comments!

  1. Wow, Maggie! I love your new blog concept. Your doodles are always so pretty. And your new button is wonderful.
Your new purse is lovely!🤩 My purse is pink and white with little polka dots. I always take my sanitizer when I go out. I would like taking more stuff but I don’t know what to take😜

  2. I. Love. Your. Purse. It’s so pretty!!!!😍 I have a much smaller one, since I don’t have a phone, and I don’t really go many places now-a-days. It’s plain leather, and I LOVE it.

    *le gasp*

    1. Thank you so much!! 😍💜 yeah my purse size has changed over the years as there became more and more things I need on me while I’m out. 😂 I used to have cute little purses! Now they’re usually medium sized. That sounds nice!
AWWW! Thank you so much 😭🤩💛 I had a lot of fun making it. I’m so happy you love how it turned out! I wasn’t sure how well I liked it at first, but it’s quickly growing on me!

  3. Cool purse! I have two purses, one is black, made out of leather ish material and it has two pockets (it’s kind of two single purses shoved together) and it has one pocket in the middle. That is the one I have been using recently.
The other one is also black, and it has a ton of cool little pockets and compartments.
I love how you have an artists kit in yours! I might have to clean out my purse and add one… XD

    1. Thank you Haley! Those sound awesome! The more compartments, the better 😂💕 although actually if there are too many, I can’t think of enough things to put in them!
Yeah! It’s been nice for on-the-go doodling 😄💕 that would be cool!
